Aspiration Pneumonia from Tummy Tuck – Risks

 Aspiration pneumonia may be associated with tummy tuck when general anesthesia is used. Since the patient will be sedated, gastric contents may be inhaled into the lungs and can produce lung injury. This is very rare, and preoperative administration of medications can greatly decrease this risk

I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit further. I know other posts did say you had some good information here, and that’s ceratinly very accurate. Just that I’ve had aspiration pneumonia in the past and really want to know more about it before going in for my surgery in a few weeks. Thanks again.
