There is always that fear of the unknown associated with any surgery. Going under the knife, as it is commonly known, is not really as risky as it sounds. Although abdominoplasty is a major surgical procedure, with advancements in medical education and technology, it is no longer as complicated or as dangerous as it used to be. In fact, since it is limited to the abdominal muscles only and does not involve internal organs like some other surgeries, it is reasonably safe.
One of the most important aspect of your surgery is your surgeon. You must do your research. Study surgeons’ reports and medical
practice records; use surgeons who have been recommended by other people who have undergone the same procedure; use reliable
online resources. Honestly, a tummy tuck is very much about choosing a highly trained surgeon who is skillful and experienced.
Some associated risks or complications of abdominoplasty, which only affect a small percentage of patients, include, but are not
limited to, poor wound healing, hemorrhage, aspiration pneumonia, deep vein thrombosis, infection, necrosis, loss of sensitivity,
excessive scaring, seroma, and unfavorable anesthesia reactions.
We will discuss all these in upcoming posts.
