Excessive scaring is not very common, even with large incision lines. In some cases, though, it may occur, and when it does, it can tend to be undesirable. Postoperatively, creams and ointments can be applied to diminish the appearance of the scarring. But if it is very conspicuous, then corrective surgery may be considered. Usually, over a period of time, the scarring may fade or may cease to be a bother, especially since the incision is made below the bikini line and will most likely be covered with almost every outfit.
